About US

Diganta Memorial Cancer Foundation is a registered welfare Organization in Bangladesh, has in existence since 2003 to fight against cancer. It is a nonprofit, non-government, charitable organization registered under the NGO Bureau Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and also registered under Societies act, 1860. It is purely Social Organization. A group of people belonging to various professions have come forward with the noble aim of rendering service to the poor cancer patient and to create awareness against cancer.

Our policy is to improve cancer burden of the society by creating awareness about cancer and to accept even a single helpless cancer affected patient under treatment who ask for our help. Our motto’s are:

Activities:

  1. One bed one patient attendant can accompanied the patient.
    2. Food: Three time open dining hall tiffin and snacks at 9 am and 5 pm
    3. Transport service: Patient’s are carried to cancer therapy providing hospitals by ambulance routing to according to schedule of radio therapy and kemo therapy of the hospitals in an emergency case.

Criteria Of A Member Of the Foundation

The Following criteria shall be considered for the selection of a member.
1. The person committed to the aims, objects program of the Foundation.
2. Their moral, mental and physical soundness.
3. Their values and ideas about human beings.
4. Their indifference to name,fame and personal material gains.
5. Their sense of responsibility.
6. Their honesty and integrity.

How to get membership

Person who fulfills the criteria of membership may apply in prescribe form with recommendation of on the member’s of the Board of director’s.The board will approved the membership after evaluation of the criteria. A person get a live time membership upon donation of the fifteen thousand taka at a time.

Message From Chairman

History Diganta Memorial Cancer Foundation:

Master Ahmed Mahir Dyan Diganta, a one year three months boy, the son of couple physician got leukaemia (blood cancer) in the year 2001. Ultimately he was advised for bone marrow transplantation. For these few social workers came forward and addressed a fund. Unfortunately he expired 13th may 2002 during preparation for boon marrow transplantation. The leftover fund was taken as the seed fund for the foundation with the hope to fight against cancer. on 21 march than chief justice Mainoor Reza chowdhury Inaugurate the stone of Diganta Memorial Cancer Foundation. Initially it started with 12 bed for children. There after it was open to all cancer patient irrespective of age sex religion nationality and ethnicity. In the year 2006 the home expand with 30 bed and in the year 2014 it has 45 beds.

Aims and Objectives

  1. To create mass awareness about cancer and factors inflicting and aggravating cancer.
    2. To set up institutions for providing one stop service specially for childhood cancer patient in particular and turn it to a reference Centre.
    3. To develop highly motivated and professionally skilled human power capable of serving the cancer Patient.
    4. Conduct research on cancer with special reference to childhood cancer in Bangladesh.
    5. Develop rapid and smooth communication network with cancer service providers through out the world.
    6. Any other like objects as per the decision of the Board of the Directors.

Plan of Action

The targeted objectives will be executed in the phase are the

Phase One,
Shelter Phase: Develop cancer home for accommodation, Food, Transport, and Counseling.

Phase Two,
Extension Phase: Capacity building, increase total service including support laboratory service.

Phase Three,
institutionalization Phase.

Phase Four,
Advance Program.

Patient Service:

  1. 1.    Accommodation.
  1. DMCF offer patients friendly accommodation to cancer patient. The patients are getting radiotherapy and chemotherapy on day care basis for long time in cancer hospitals. Instate of staying in hotel, relatives house, low cost unhygienic environment, patient can stay here with sufficient health coverage. It reduces hard earn money of the patient that can be used for drug, Chemotherapy, investigations and other treatment related expenses

It is very difficult for a relative to accommodate the cancer patient for a long time. That disrupt their routine life, Involve out of pocket money and also interfere the education of the children. 

 A cancer patient live clean germ free wealth ventilated patient friendly accommodation.

That should have clean floor bed cloths toilets and bathrooms. Considering all this take care Diganta memorial cancer foundation has arranged a healthy cancer patient friendly accommodation. Foundation arranged single bed for single patient. The attendant of the patient can stay at home with separate arrangement.

  • Celebration of different anti-cancer days like world cancer day, world tobacco day, world breast cancer awareness day.
  • Publication of leaflets, brushier, booklets, souvenir, website with anti-cancer information.  

Cancer Management

Cancer management include

  • Awareness for prevention,
  •  Early diagnosis by screening.
  • Treatment such as surgery, chemotherapy radiotherapy etc
  • Rehabilitation.

All are highly technical and costly except prevention. For a poor country like Bangladesh prevention should get priority. Prevention can be achieve by

  • Creating awareness
  • Changing food habit
  • Changing life style.
  • Vaccination against cancer producing agents.

Support Service

DMCF provide support service to cancer patient by arranging

  • Wheel chair, scratch, and other rehabilitating devices.
  • Jobs within limitation.
